What fun you are having! When we travel somewhere new, our favorite moments occur when we simply “follow our noses”. Sounds like that’s just what the two of you are doing! Keep those stories coming and have a lovely Christmas.

The dressing of the baby Jesus reminds me of the folks who similarly attend to images of Krishna in Hindu temples. Fascinating!

It was also interesting to find out the figurine has been duplicated in other Catholic cities and become the basis of churches there. Faith is a fascinating thing.

Here’s to wandering off the better-beaten path!

Loved the photo of a very cold Doris. I had to put my down vest on before I could continue my way through Partout.
In my book, a 400-yr old somber European church is the last place to warm up but shelter is shelter and hopefully the climb up to Jesus’s attic closet warmed you up nicely.

    Ça vaut le detour, Karen

Well, yes, it should have occurred to us the church was probably about the same temperature as the street, but we are glad it didn’t. Way better attic than the one next-door to you!

We’re on the water for 6 months so we totally get the detour approach to traveling. Kudos for fillowing your instincts and not the tour guide book! Happy Holidays!
PS your blog asks if I have a website and I just made one so I’ve included it here (palmerwatercolors.com). I’ve begun donating watercolors to nonprofits to raise money (eg in silent auctions or other events) for communities in need. It works! Yay!
