Wow! Very impressive, but I’m not surprised one bit. Sure sounds like you are off on this next edition surer and wiser about just about everything! So looking forward to being in your back pockets for this. Thanks so much for the effort and hard work I know it takes to pull this off. You two are my heroes. Safe and happy trails to you, happy new year, and onward!

This is incredible. I had no idea you were both such techies, and there are are those financial travel tips. Thank you. I smell a new book coming on, and it is sorely needed for healthy vagabond retirees. Great!

Alas, I think it is impossible in today’s world to travel independently and especially for long periods without being digitally loaded. I’m sure people do it, we just don’t want to be among them! Happy trails in 2019 yourself!

Thanks for the helpful tips and I look forward to the forthcoming partout posts! We look forward to seeing you both when you’re back in DC. I’m thinking of coming to visit when you’re in Sandpoint this summer after I see my son Chris in Oregon. Love Susan

Louis says we can trade travel tips for remodeling skills. How’s that sound? Hahahaha. Happy new year.

this is great! we were wondering when we would see a new issue of Partout!

and great trips for traveling. we hope to be doing a lot more travel in the next few years, so will keep this handy.

do you have any medical evacuation insurance? I have a good friend who works for Skymed insurance – she lives in Mexico and used it herself recently with a sudden and serious illness to get back to the US. It saved her a bundle. Let me know if you would like more info.

Safe travels! We will miss you tonight. I remember meeting you both for the first time at a Ruth and David NYE party several years ago. I can’t believe that there was ever a time that we weren’t friends!

    Bon voyage et grosses bises,

    Carolyn

Aw, thanks, Carolyn. And you are right … wasn’t that New Year’s a hundred years ago?

As for the insurance, we absolutely do buy it. Evacuation is typically part of the medical package, which also includes repatriation (sending back your remains). We choose an evacuation coverage that reflects where we will be and what it would cost to be evacuated from there, including being returned to the States in okay condition but not good enough to fly commercially. We buy less for Europe, more for remote places, etc. It’s not expensive. What makes travel insurance expensive is the cancelation and interruption. We leave those mostly to our Chase card.
